Resident Evil Village may be continuing a previous story but that doesn’t make it any less stellar when compared to past RE games. The graphics have been thoroughly enhanced, though. Much of the gameplay is the same, but the inventory system here is notably similar to RE4’s. However, the reappearance of someone familiar to the couple sets off a chain of events that lead to a whole new nightmare. The story is set a few years after the events of RE7, wherein Ethan and Mia are now living peacefully in a snowy remote location. In this title, you play in the first-person perspective again and control Ethan Winters, the protagonist of the previous game. This gameplay style had been a divergence from the action-shooter genre of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 and instead, had been a return to the original games’ survival horror focus on exploration. The same patch has also fixed several minor bugs and issues.Resident Evil Village, also known as “ Resident Evil 8”, follows up on both of RE7’s storyline and gameplay. As of this patch, PC players will also be able to play in offline split-screen co-op. Resident Evil 5 is available on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam. Players who still used Games for Windows Live for Resident Evil 5 will no longer be able to do so after this patch. However, that will no longer be in the case for Resident Evil 5. While Windows no longer offered official support, some publishers still did.
This was the method of offline co-op that Resident Evil implemented in the past, such as in the original console iteration of Resident Evil 5.Īs for Games for Windows Live, this was a gaming platform that originally came out during the Xbox 360 era. The screen will be smaller as a result, however. So long as there are two controllers for both players to play, you will be able to co-op with a friend on the same system. Local split-screen co-op is quite literally what it says on the title. There is also no longer support for Games for Windows Live on Resident Evil 5. This will allow players to play with a friend without both needing their own computer or copy of the game. Capcom released a small patch for the Steam version of Resident Evil 5 that adds local split-screen co-op.
